Nutrient and Fiber Complex

Source Naturals

Source Naturals Cholestrex® maintains a healthy cholesterol level and is part of the Cholesterol Rescue™ family of products. Preliminary scientific evidence suggests that certain fibers, niacin, beta-sitosterol and other nutrients may help to support cholesterol wellness when consumed as part of a low cholesterol and low fat dietary program.

Niacin is a B vitamin which has long been used to increase high-density lipoprotein (HDL), the "good" cholesterol by 15 to 35 percent. This makes niacin the most effective drug available for raising HDL cholesterol. HDL cholesterol helps sweep up low-density lipoprotein (LDL), or "bad" cholesterol, in your bloodstream. While niacin's effect on HDL is of most interest, it is worth noting that niacin also decreases your LDL and triglyceride levels. High levels of LDL and triglycerides are significant risk factors for heart disease. Taking niacin helps to control your total cholesterol level.

Beta-sitosterol reduces cholesterol by limiting the amount of cholesterol naturally produced by your liver and by absorption of cholesterol in the digestive system. This type of treatment is indicated for patients with a genetic predisposition to high cholesterol. Beta-sitosterol works with liver enzymes to inhibit excess cholesterol production.
Beta-Sitosterol decreases absorption by locking to the fat molecules eaten and by blocking the fat molecule absorption gates in the intestines. The fats and cholesterol are then excreted rather than absorbed.

Cholestrex also includes vitamin C and E to increase energy and to enhance the immune system.
